Vaccination

Health & Wellness
Hello you guys and welcome back to another one of PEP’s YouTube videos. My name is Sarahi and today I wanted to speak to you guys about the importance of vaccines.

Vaccine hesitancy, or the refusal to get vaccinated, is said to be among the top global threats in 2019 according to the World Health Organization, yet many still refuse to allow themselves and their loved ones to get vaccinated. Many people have heard rumors that vaccines are harmful and can lead to detrimental health effects, however, it does the complete opposite.

Vaccines reduce and even eradicate some of the most deadly diseases such as type 2 Poliovirus, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and many more. However, these deadly diseases still do exist which is why its crucial to get vaccinated. For example, in 2018, over 140,000 people around the world died from measles. You see, not getting vaccinated can be one of the biggest contributors to the spread of disease, yet vaccination rates are rapidly decreasing.

In Michigan, vaccination rates for children have gone down overall more than 20% compared with last year and right now fewer than 50% of infants under 5 months in Michigan are up to date on their vaccinations.

In order to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you, you must get vaccinated to do your part in stopping the spread of many infectious diseases as it takes at least 95% of us vaccinated to eliminate the threat of another outbreak.

If you, or someone you know needs help connecting with a medical professional, or paying the cost of vaccines, you can call 810-953-CHAP or reach the PEP team at 810-221-1525

It is up to us to help prevent the next pandemic.

Thank you, be safe and make sure to get vaccinated!
